Thoko is CEO and the founding member of Kutana Group, a black women-owned investment company. Thoko has worked in executive positions in global pharmaceutical and ICT companies including CEO of Alcatel SA and Hewlett Packard SA. She currently holds a number of non-executive board positions of blue chip companies including Old Mutual, Omnia, Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBP) and Smollan. Thoko’s career spans across various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, information technology and business. She has held a number of senior executive positions at Telkom, was Marketing Director at Lucent Technologies, a Divisional Managing Director of Siemens Telecommunications, the CEO of Alcatel SA and CEO of Hewlett Packard SA. Thoko has received various awards including South African Business Women of the year (2007), IT businesswomen of the year and she was voted 2nd most influential women in Africa for IT, Media and Telecoms.
Claire has been instrumental in building the ubora Group from its inception. As a chartered accountant with a background in mergers and acquisitions, Claire has worked as an investment principal across various sectors for the Kutana Group. She currently serves as a director for many Kutana Group investments including for Nexio, Empowerment Capital and Finance Africa. Claire co-founded Crest Capital in 2014. Prior to this, she was a director in the corporate finance division at Grant Thornton Johannesburg where she headed up the transaction advisory function within the team. Claire has extensive experience in transaction advisory and M&A which includes buy-side and sell-side transaction structuring and various cross border transactions in a range of industry sectors.
